Getting around
By Bus: The service is cheap, but can be infrequent. A valid ticket is needed before you get on the bus. This can be purchased at local shops.
Taxi’s: Official taxi’s have an H registration and there are two types. Always agree a price in advance.
- Private taxi's operate a fixed tariff and will travel anywhere.
- Route Taxi's are cheap and operate set routes on a shared basis. They can be hailed from the roadside.
Car :
It is easy to explore Tobago by road and all sights are reachable from anywhere on the island in a day’s drive. Driving is on the left and speed limits and directions are well sign posted. Petrol (gas) is cheap and car parking is free. Tobago is hilly with winding roads, hairpin bends, blind corners and many pot holes so care and attention is needed as there can be a surprise around every corner.
You will need to take a valid driving licence with you.
